FAQ

How much does it cost to install a home EV charger?
Most installs run $500–$2,500. The exact price depends on your panel, the charger, and the wiring distance. Call us for a free estimate at (408) 583-6354.
Do I need a permit to install an EV charger in California?
Yes. The city requires a permit and an inspection for any Level 2 (240V) charger. The cost depends on your city's permit fees. We can pull the permit and manage the inspection for you.
Will I need to upgrade my electrical panel for an EV charger?
Not always. For smaller panels (about 90A–125A) we can often install a load balancer instead of a full panel upgrade. If an upgrade is needed, we handle both the work and the permit.
Do you install chargers for all EV brands, or only Tesla?
Every brand. We install chargers from Tesla, ChargePoint, Emporia, Rivian and more. We hold several certifications, including Tesla and EVITP.
Do I buy the charger, or do you supply it?
Either way works. If you want to buy your own, wait until we've checked your panel and your car, so you get the right one. We can also supply the charger for you.
Can I install the charger outside, in the rain?
Yes. A good Level 2 charger is built for the weather, so rain, morning fog, and hot sun are all fine outside. We still lean toward the garage when there is room for it: tucked out of the weather a charger usually lasts a good 10 years or more, and out in the open it is more like 7 or 8 years. Think of it like a waterproof laptop, it handles the rain but would rather not sit in it all day. If outside is your only spot, no worries at all, we do plenty of them and just make sure everything is sealed up and mounted to last.
How long does EV charger installation take?
From 2 hours to 2 days, depending on your panel and wiring. Most installs are done in a few hours. A panel upgrade or a long wiring run is what takes longer.
Will my EV charger be Level 2?
Yes.
How many Amps will I get?
Typically 32–48 Amps, depending on your charger and your panel capacity.
How long will it take to charge my car?
2–4 hours in most cases.
